Quick, Easy to Use Summative, Formative Assessments
Formative and Summative Assessment Resources to Support the 4Cs and Student Growth
One of my favorite assessment tools is www.GoSoapBox.com. It has several different formats that can be used (polls, quizzes, discussions), but my favorite feature is the locking feature. When students log on, the assessments don't appear until they are 'unlocked' by the teacher. This feature allows me to preload the questions, unlock them to make them visible to the class exactly when I want them to see them, and lock them back when I need the class focused on something else. It also has a feature that lets the teacher know that they are confused about something during the lesson. Great when kids wouldn't otherwise raise their hands. I have also used this for backchannel discussions, collaborative discussions, etc… Students do not need an account. They log in with a code specific to that assessment.
Quizizz allows you to create online quizzes, similar to Kahoot. However, unlike Kahoot, it allows students to proceed at their own pace. It also allows you to use quizzes that other teachers have already created and shared. Created on 9/1/2015 - Last updated on 10/13/2015
